:: VICARAGE STORYTIME:

5. That's mish mish, m'lord.

In 2003, Andrew Alcee filed suit against East West Records (a division of Warner Music UK) over its use of his UK garage #1 hit "Burnin'" on Heartless Crew's album Crisp Biscuit.

The song, he claimed, had been distorted or mutilated - and his honour and reputation damaged - by Heartless Crew's references to drugs and violence.

Mr Justice Lewison, the presiding High Court judge, had some difficulty deciding the case. The situation, "led to the faintly surreal experience of three gentlemen in horsehair wigs - himself and the two barristers - examining the meaning of such phrases as 'mish mish man' and 'shizzle my nizzle'."

The outcome? Case dismissed. Lewison ruled that a valid contract existed under which East West Records was licensed to use the track.
